The South Australian Government’s VET for School Students policy brings industry and schools together to enhance career education and improve outcomes for students and employers.

By engaging with schools, industry can support us to build a pipeline of skilled workers to support the workforce needs of South Australian employers. For students, having opportunities to explore the world of work and connect with industry and employers supports them to make informed decisions about their future and transition successfully to full-time employment or study when they leave school.

There are two ways you can connect with young people to shape your future workforce – promote opportunities directly to students through this website, or express interest in engaging directly with schools through the Industry and Employer Immersion program.

Promote your business or industry directly to students

Promote your business and inspire young people to join your industry through the Student Pathways website – it’s a place for students to explore their career pathway options, find opportunities to engage with industry and build their career portfolio.

By clicking the link below, you can upload opportunities for students to gain exposure to your industry, including:

• school-based apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities aligned to our Flexible Industry Pathways.
• work experience
• other self-led career exploration opportunities such as:
  • industry expos, career events, conferences or open days
  • design challenges or other competitions
  • providing links to industry career videos
  • offering virtual or online experiences, training or webinars.

Connect with schools through the Industry and Employer Immersion program

Connect with schools and create your own industry and employer immersion activity. We can help you develop opportunities and connect you directly with schools to inspire students through:

• providing guest speakers or industry visits to schools
• hosting industry site tours and visits
• creating an industry challenge
• offering professional development for teachers
• promoting industry conferences or expos
• industry mentoring or mock interview programs
