Workabout

Workabout (for students in years 10 to 12)

Being a part of Workabout can help you stay on track to finish school and get ready for working life.

Workabout is run by Aboriginal staff who work directly with you to:

  • build your practical skills – like planning what you want to do after high school

  • guide you through your options – like further study, training or a job

  • get ready for working life – like how to succeed in the workforce, earning a living.

Workabout Centre

Workabout can help you:

  • get a basic ticket – like a White Card or a First Aid certificate

  • get your learners permit

  • get your personal ID documents, tax file number, Unique Student Identifier (USI)

  • Write a resume, organise work experience or apply for a job

Workabout Coordinators visit schools everywhere – ask your ASETO or Aboriginal Education Teacher to meet with a Workabout Coordinator.

To be in Workabout, you need to be an Aboriginal student enrolled in a government high school.

Aboriginal Pathways to Success week

If you are an Aboriginal student, you can join the Aboriginal Pathways to Success Week!

Pathways to Success is a fun week for Aboriginal students in Years 10. You will learn about different jobs and careers by doing hands on activities while spending time with other students from across the state and staying connected to culture and community.

During the week, you’ll try new activities, meet new people, and explore ideas for your future.

If you want to know more, talk to the Aboriginal Education team at your school.
